Learning "time tables" can be quite a challenge for learners. For some the right motivation is all they need.
However, for many... the lists of numbers don't actually mean anything and tricks are, well just tricks.
Times Tables Viz is an app designed for the i-phone and uses the same learning principles as Tables Logik which is available on PC's.
Each use a visual representation of the fact to be learned so the learner recognizes the actual fact as a model rather than just an abstract equation.
Both provide an opportunity for practice to help the learner develop a faster recall.
Crucially however, both encourage the learner and the mentor to explore any facts they are struggling to recall, by physically manipulating counters and re-arranging them to prove the fact in question. The same principle applies for younger learners developing their number bonds but the techniques and explanations may be more sophisticated.
