EARLY PRIMARY PHASE

Developing number sense and fundamental arithmetical skills.

Introducing Geometry, Fractions and the foundation of Measure.

Using manipulatives and images in early mathematics helps young learners develop a sense of number and an understanding of how mathematics can help them understand the world around them. Starting to record numbers and simple equations with abstract symbols alongside physical and visual representations is an important step along the road to developing confidence. Applying this growing knowledge to the context of shape and measure allows learners to explore the real world in a manageable way.
